Resourcing a more intersectional and interconnected grassroots movement
A powerful resistance has been building, to counter the tide of rising authoritarianism globally. Movement leaders are articulating a compelling alternative to authoritarians’ regressive and fear-based campaigns: a robust and restorative democracy that works for all people, rooted in racial justice, gender justice, and climate justice.
Yet these progressive resistance movements – whether focused on racial equity, government accountability, or freedom of the press – are far less resourced, less connected, and less coordinated than their authoritarian counterparts. The STROIKA Anti-Authoritarian Fund is stepping up to change that.
Our mission is to connect, strengthen, and resource global resistance movements, with two primary mechanisms for supporting activists on the anti-authoritarian front lines:
The STROIKA team has an exemplary track record of ‘betting on the right people’ when it comes to social justice investments. Cutting through the noise of flashy fundraising pitches, we excel at identifying talented and visionary changemakers, and honing in on what they need most now to maximize their immediate impact.
Our partners are all “anti-authoritarian activists,” defined broadly: they are the promising staff of well-established organizations, the organizers of informal civic initiatives, student leaders, journalists, artists, and social entrepreneurs. But they all play a critical role in standing up for a better future, locally and globally.
While we support activists across movement and geographic lines, we are currently prioritizing the following four cohorts for 2023-2024:
